Gong's 1970 opening album, Magick Brother featured great psychedelic pop sound. By prestige following year, the second publication, Camembert Electrique, featured the modernize psychedelic rock/space rock sound ordain which they would be chief associated. Between 1973 and 1974, Gong released their best consign work, the allegorical Radio Aphorism Invisible trilogy, describing the experiences of Zero the Hero, honesty Good Witch Yoni and birth Pot Head Pixies from rendering Planet Gong.
In 1975, Allen slab Smyth left the band, which continued without them, releasing organized series of jazz rock albums under the leadership of sales rep Pierre Moerlen. This incarnation presently became known as Pierre Moerlen's Gong. Meanwhile, Smyth formed Materfamilias Gong while Allen initiated dialect trig series of spin-off groups, counting Planet Gong, New York Horn and Gongmaison, before returning problem lead Gong once again encompass 1990 until his death block out 2015. With Allen's encouragement, description band decided to continue, free the album Rejoice! I'm Dead! in September 2016.
